Moravia Canton, Administrative canton in San José Province, Costa Rica
Moravia Canton encompasses 28.82 square kilometers of territory in the northern region of San José Province, with an elevation of 1,396 meters above sea level.
The territory gained its administrative status on July 31, 1914, when it was officially established as the fourteenth canton of San José Province.
The central district of San Vicente hosts traditional celebrations every April 5th, featuring religious ceremonies and processions dedicated to Saint Vincent Ferrer.
The canton contains three main districts - San Vicente serving as the capital, along with San Jerónimo and La Trinidad, connected through National Route 102.
The population of Moravia Canton grew from 2,778 inhabitants in 1927 to 59,546 in 2022, maintaining the fifth highest Human Development Index in Costa Rica.
