La Chinita International Airport, International airport in Maracaibo, Venezuela
La Chinita International Airport is the main airport serving Maracaibo and operates two separate terminals for domestic and international routes. The facility sits at 72 meters elevation and connects the city with airports across the country and beyond.
The airport opened in November 1969 and replaced the earlier Grano de Oro facility, which had become unsuitable due to its location within the city. Since then it has grown into the major air hub for the Zulia region.
The airport serves as a gateway to western Venezuela, connecting the oil-rich Zulia state with national and international destinations through multiple carriers.
Visitors can find passenger lounges, car rental services, restaurants, and flight information systems in the terminal buildings. These facilities provide basic services for travelers waiting between connections or flights.
The northern runway includes a 300-meter paved overrun section, with the Maracaibo VORTAC navigation system positioned northeast of Runway 21R.
