Flor de Venezuela, Modern monument in Barquisimeto, Venezuela.
Flor de Venezuela is a modern monument in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, built around a central platform with 16 movable metal petals. The petals open and close, reaching a height of 19 meters (62 feet) above the platform.
The structure was originally designed as Venezuela's pavilion for the 2000 World Expo in Hannover, Germany. It earned second place there for its presentation in the tourism category.
The name refers to Venezuela's national flower, an orchid species that serves as a symbol of the country. The structure sits on a formation reminiscent of Gran Sabana landscapes, showing this connection to nature.
Visitors can enter the monument daily to enjoy views of Barquisimeto during sunset. Several vantage points inside the structure offer different perspectives of the city.
The interior houses an aquarium system and an amphitheater for performances. The radio station Flor 90.7 FM broadcasts from here across Venezuela.
