The Christ sculpture stands 18 meters tall on Atachi Hill, featuring a 5-meter base and a 13-meter statue overlooking the entire city.
The construction of this monument began in January 2002 under sculptor Alejo Hernández and architect Roberto Gómez, with completion in September of the same year.
The statue represents a guardian figure for the local population, joining Santa Prisca Temple as one of the main religious landmarks in Taxco de Alarcón.
Visitors can access the monument 24 hours a day by taking a combination bus to Cascahuates or driving directly to Valle del Bosque 89.
The statue underwent restoration in 2019 after suffering damage from both the 2017 Puebla earthquake and a lightning strike that removed one hand in 2018.
