Pozas azules de Atzala, Natural pools in Taxco, Mexico.
Pozas Azules de Atzala is a series of sixteen natural pools connected by waterfalls along a path. The pools vary in depth and create different swimming areas throughout the 300-meter route.
These pools formed naturally over centuries through limestone erosion in the Guerrero mountains. Continuous water flow gradually shaped the cascading structure visible today.
Local families spend weekends swimming and sharing meals at these pools together. The pools serve as a gathering place where people from the region enjoy their free time surrounded by nature.
You can reach the pools by taking a colectivo from Coppel Plateros in Taxco. It is advisable to wear water shoes or bring gloves since the ground is rocky, and to bring a towel and change of clothes.
The water stays consistently cold year-round, offering a refreshing experience even on hot days. Natural rock formations between certain pool sections create small waterslides that add a playful element to the visit.
