Santuario de Nuestro Padre Jesús de Aquixtla, Catholic sanctuary in Aquixtla Municipality, Mexico.
The sanctuary features Spanish-Byzantine architecture with adobe walls decorated with continuous arches and two entrance doors leading to an ornate interior.
The chapel dedicated to Nuestro Padre Jesus was built in 1878 and received national sanctuary status from Apostolic Nuncio Christophe Pierre in 2016.
From December 28 to January 1, the venerated image visits neighboring communities, returning on January 2 amid celebrations known as 'King of the Poor'.
The sanctuary includes an 800-step climb to the Calvary, where visitors can follow the 14 Stations of the Cross made from stone and quarry.
Local tradition tells of a masterless mule carrying a box containing the bust of Jesus, which became too heavy to move when attempts were made.
