Enterprise Plaza, Commercial skyscraper in Downtown Houston, United States
Enterprise Plaza is a skyscraper on Louisiana Street in downtown Houston, Texas, rising 230 meters with a glass and steel facade. The tower has 55 floors and is used mainly as corporate office space.
The building opened in 1980 and held the title of tallest structure in Texas for about two years before another tower surpassed it in 1982. It was built during a period of rapid growth in Houston's downtown.
The architectural design by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill represents the 1980s corporate architecture movement in major American metropolitan centers.
The tower is best seen from the surrounding streets, where it stands among other downtown buildings and is easy to spot. Access inside is limited to tenants and their guests, so a visit from street level is the most practical option.
The tower serves as the headquarters of Enterprise Products, one of the largest energy companies in the United States. This makes it a working symbol of Houston's deep ties to the oil and gas industry.
