Texas Technological College Historic District, Historic district at Texas Tech University, United States.
Texas Technological College Historic District is a university campus area in Lubbock spanning roughly 110 acres with 27 buildings in Mission Revival style. The characteristic stucco walls and low-pitched tile roofs define how the campus looks and feels as you walk through it.
The campus was founded in 1924 and marked the beginning of higher education in West Texas. The number of buildings and infrastructure grew rapidly to handle the increasing student population over the following decades.
The architecture reflects Spanish Renaissance influences that shaped early 20th-century Texas. Visitors can see these design choices in the stucco walls and tile roofs that defined how students and faculty moved through campus life.
The district sits between 6th Street and 19th Street and remains an active university campus. Expect to see students and staff moving between buildings at all times, with some areas busier during class changes and quieter during breaks.
The original campus included the Acre Project where students received small plots of land for farming. This hands-on approach connected classroom learning with practical agriculture and irrigation work in a way students rarely experience today.
