Hippie Hollow Park, County park on Lake Travis in Austin, United States.
Hippie Hollow Park is a 109-acre county park on Lake Travis in Austin, United States, extending along a steep limestone shoreline. Natural rock formations create areas for swimming and sunbathing directly by the water.
The Travis County Parks Department took over management of this land in October 1983 and opened it officially two years later. Before that, the site bore the name McGregor County Park.
The name emerged after the Woodstock era and reflects social changes when people began practicing textile-free recreation here. The designation points to the counterculture of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Access is restricted to visitors 18 and older, with specific regulations applying to clothing-optional activities. The park sits on Comanche Trail and the terrain requires sturdy footwear because of rocky sections.
This site is the only legally recognized clothing-optional public park in the entire state of Texas. Legislation permits this use nowhere else within state borders.
