WinStar World Casino, Casino in Thackerville, United States
WinStar World Casino is a gaming facility on Chickasaw Nation land in Thackerville in southern Oklahoma, near the Texas border. The complex spreads across several interconnected buildings with slot machines, table games, poker rooms, restaurants, bars, an entertainment center, and an attached hotel.
The Chickasaw Nation opened the gaming facility in 2004 and expanded it over the following years with additional building sections and amenities. A hotel tower with several hundred rooms was added in 2009, when the property received its current name.
The building's architecture displays replicas of European building styles, including Roman columns and arches that mark different themed sections across the property. Visitors move between gaming areas named after world cities and imitating their architectural features.
The property sits roughly 120 miles (190 kilometers) south of Oklahoma City and about an hour's drive north of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area along Interstate 35. Shuttle buses link the RV parking area with the main gaming sections, and parking lots stand near the entrances.
Architect Larry Seitz designed the facades of the different building sections after landmarks from around the world, from the Colosseum in Rome to the Parliament Building in London. These replica monuments serve as orientation points for visitors moving through the property.
