Cloyce Box Ranch is a historic property in Frisco, Texas, that once sprawled across thousands of acres dedicated to livestock and horse breeding. The site was used for raising Black Angus cattle, Longhorn cattle, and maintaining breeding programs.
The property gained national attention in 1978 when it served as the first filming location for the television series Dallas before production shifted elsewhere. The original mansion burned down in 1987, marking the end of an era for the estate.
The original mansion drew inspiration from Tara plantation in Gone with the Wind and showcased colonial-style architecture designed by John Astin Perkins. Visitors can still trace this architectural influence in the remaining structures scattered across the property today.
The remaining sections of the property are located at the northeast corner of Preston Road and Main Street in Frisco. Visitors should note that only portions of the original estate remain accessible today.
The original staircase from the mansion that burned in 1987 has been preserved and is now housed at the Frisco Heritage Museum. This artifact is one of the few direct remnants from the structure that visitors can view today.
