Thibodaux is a town along Bayou Lafourche in Louisiana with historic buildings and several educational institutions. The town sits in the southern part of the state and serves as the administrative center for Lafourche Parish.
The settlement began in 1830 as Thibodeauxville and was named after Henry Schuyler Thibodaux, a former governor of Louisiana. Over the course of the 19th century, the town grew into a center for sugarcane cultivation and processing.
St. Joseph Co-Cathedral preserves a relic of St. Valerie dating from 1868 and shows the Roman Catholic heritage of the town. Many residents still attend services regularly in this sacred space.
