Winnsboro, small city in and parish seat of Franklin Parish, Louisiana, United States

Winnsboro is a small city in Franklin Parish in northern Louisiana and serves as the parish seat. The downtown has quiet streets with sidewalks, benches for resting, older buildings that shape the appearance, and local shops that form the center of daily life.

The town was originally called Winnsborough before being officially renamed Winnsboro in the early 1900s. The place grew because of cotton farming, which shaped the economic and social life of the region for generations.

Winnsboro shows a strong sense of community in everyday life and local gatherings where people know each other well. The town has deep evangelical Protestant roots that shape how residents interact and care for one another, creating visible bonds between families and neighbors.

The best way to arrive is by car, since the town is about 30 miles southeast of Monroe and reached via US Highways 425, 15, and 4. Streets in the city are manageable, with sidewalks and parking available, so visitors can walk around easily on foot.

The Franklin Parish Catfish Festival is the largest one-day festival in Louisiana and draws visitors with many catfish dishes. This yearly event is celebrated by locals and nearby visitors as one of the highlights on the regional calendar.
