Vivian is a small town in Caddo Parish in northwestern Louisiana. It sits between Texas and Arkansas, roughly 30 miles from Shreveport.
The town was founded in 1898 when residents from Monterey, a port on Caddo Lake, settled near a newly built railroad terminal. The railway enabled the community to grow in the late 1800s.
The Louisiana Redbud Festival takes place every third Saturday of March, while the Black History Parade occurs during the third weekend of February.
The Town Hall on West Alabama Avenue provides local government services in the heart of the community. The town's small size makes it easy to navigate on foot.
