John C. Stennis Space Center

The Stennis Space Center contains multiple testing structures specifically designed for evaluating rocket engine performance in controlled environments.

Since 1961, the facility has tested numerous rocket engines, including those used in the Saturn V rockets that powered Apollo missions to the Moon.

The center houses over 40 different organizations, forming a collaborative community of federal, state, academic, and private entities focused on space exploration.

The facility maintains a 125,000-acre buffer zone that extends nine miles in each direction to minimize noise impact during engine testing procedures.

The center incorporates waterways and rivers into its operations, using these natural features for transportation of large rocket components.
