The RSA Battle House Tower is a 35-story office building rising over 227 meters in Mobile, Alabama, featuring postmodern architectural elements. The structure connects directly to the adjacent Battle House Hotel complex.
Construction began on 7 November 2003, when a foundation slab over 7 feet thick was poured in three days using 1,440 cement trucks. The spire was set by a Sikorsky S-61 helicopter on 16 September 2006, and the tower opened on 11 May 2007, when its crown was first lit. Five hurricanes delayed work without damaging the structure.
The tower takes its name from the neighboring Battle House Hotel, built in 1908 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The hotel was restored and renovated as part of the tower project, so the two buildings now form one complex in downtown Mobile.
The building offers office space with direct access to the Battle House Hotel and nearby parking structures. Its central location makes it easy to navigate and provides close proximity to other downtown attractions.
The spire was lifted into place by a Sikorsky S-61 helicopter on 16 September 2006, fixing the tower's final height of 745 feet (227 m). The lighted crown was first switched on the evening of the official opening, 11 May 2007, and on a clear night it can be seen from 30 miles (48 km) away along Mobile Bay.
