Pincus Building, Bauwerk in den Vereinigten Staaten

The Pincus Building is a four-story commercial structure in Mobile, Alabama, constructed in 1891 in the late Victorian style. It features detailed brickwork and architectural elements characteristic of that era, designed by architect Rudolf Benz.

Local architect Rudolph Benz designed the four-story brick Pincus Building, completed in 1891 for the Zadek Jewelry Company. A round corner tower with a spire stood on the exterior until its removal by the 1940s, and the first-floor detailing was later simplified. The building entered the National Register of Historic Places on December 12, 1976.

The building takes its alternative name, the Zadek Building, from the Zadek Jewelry Company, which occupied it from its completion in 1891. The name survives on the National Register listing of December 12, 1976, alongside the Pincus name.

The building is located on South Royal Street in downtown Mobile and is easily accessible from the street. Visitors can view the facade and its architectural details while exploring the nearby historic sites and shops in the area.

The round corner tower with its spire was gone by the 1940s, and the first-floor exterior detailing was later simplified. The building is also known as the Zadek Building, after the jewelry company that first occupied it.
