Reuben Davis House, Greek Revival mansion in Aberdeen, United States.

The Reuben Davis House is a two-story residence with eight fluted columns forming a Greek Revival portico at its entrance. The building sits within the West Commerce Street Historic District and displays the craftsmanship typical of mid-1800s construction.

The house was built in 1847 by D.F. Alexander and underwent significant changes when William Cunningham remodeled it in 1853. Later it served as home to attorney and congressman Reuben Davis, becoming a notable residence in the community.

The residence shows how wealthy Southern landowners of the 1800s chose to build their homes with Classical design elements to display their status. The Greek Revival style was their way of connecting to ancient ideals of beauty and permanence.

The house is located within Aberdeen's West Commerce Street Historic District and remains visible from the street. Keep in mind that this is a private residence, so viewing is limited to the exterior of the building.

The interior features decorative elements influenced by architect Asher Benjamin, reflecting the design taste of prominent figures from that era. During the 1940s it operated as an apartment complex, showing how the building adapted to changing times and needs.
