Dudy Noble Field, Polk-DeMent Stadium, baseball park at Mississippi State University
Dudy Noble Field, also known as Polk-DeMent Stadium, is a baseball stadium on the campus of Mississippi State University in Starkville. The venue features a wide open concourse wrapping around the field, private suites in the upper sections, comfortable chair-back seating replacing older bleachers, and holds approximately 13,000 to 15,000 spectators.
The stadium opened in 1967 and was built on former farmland, reflecting the university's sports history since its founding in 1878. Following a comprehensive renovation completed in 2019 that cost approximately 50 to 68 million dollars, it was transformed into a modern center for college baseball.
The stadium goes by the nickname The Dude, reflecting the relaxed way fans experience the game here. The tradition of grills and barbecue setups behind the outfield fences remains alive today and shapes game day with its distinctive aroma.
The stadium has three main entrances and offers free or low-cost parking, particularly on the south side, with many visitors walking from lots near the field. There are about 16 food stations offering everything from quick snacks to regional specialties, and weekend seating sells out quickly, so visitors should arrive early.
The grounds feature Left Field Lofts with 12 small apartments equipped with balconies overlooking the field, allowing fans to watch games from private spaces. This unusual combination of residential and viewing facilities is rarely found at college baseball stadiums.
