Chickasaw State Park, State park in Marengo County, Alabama
Chickasaw State Park is a 520-acre natural space with hiking trails, lakes, and camping areas situated along U.S. Route 43 in rural Alabama. The property offers different recreational facilities spread throughout the grounds for visitor use.
This area started as an informal roadside stop and evolved into a complete state park through a partnership between Alabama State Parks and Marengo County. This collaboration shaped the facilities that exist today.
The park is a significant stop on Alabama's Black Belt Birding Trail, drawing observers who document northern flickers, white-eyed vireos, and indigo buntings in their natural habitats. Birdwatchers find the location valuable for spotting species that pass through the region.
The park has RV sites with water and electrical connections as well as basic tent camping spots located throughout the grounds. Visitors should check ahead to see which facilities are available at their preferred area.
The park contains four large pavilions, one of which features a permanent barbecue structure for group gatherings. This specialized facility enables larger community events and group activities.
