Joseph T. Smitherman Historic Building, Local museum and former school building in Selma, United States.

The brick building features Greek Revival architecture with monumental Ionic columns and spans three stories at 105 Lauderdale Street.

Constructed in 1847 for the Selma Fraternal Lodge, the structure served as a Confederate hospital during the Civil War and later as Dallas County Courthouse.

The museum displays Civil War collections, political documents, Native American artifacts, and maintains a recreation of the former Vaughan Memorial Hospital.

The Vaughan-Smitherman Museum contains three floors of exhibits, including historical collections focusing on Selma's development through different time periods.

The building transformed from a Masonic school to a courthouse, then a military institute, followed by a hospital before becoming a museum.
