Lassiter House, Historic residence in Autaugaville, Alabama.
Lassiter House is a single-story residence with a symmetrical front and centered entrance door, situated north of County Road 15 in Autaugaville. The I-house design was common for rural homes of that era and shows how families in early Alabama arranged their living spaces.
The house was built in 1825 during Alabama's early statehood when the region was settling rapidly. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997, recognizing its importance in local history.
The property represents early 19th-century residential architecture in Alabama, reflecting the building methods and social status of landowners during that period.
The house sits roughly half a mile north of AL 14 and is fairly easy to locate using local road markers. Visitors should know this is a private residence and viewing is available from the exterior.
The original land deed carries President John Quincy Adams's signature from 1825, but was not initially granted to the Lassiter family. This shows how properties changed hands in that era before acquiring their lasting names.
