Dismals Canyon, National Natural Landmark in Northwest Alabama, United States.

The canyon spans 85 acres with a 1.5-mile trail following Dismals Branch past towering boulders, caverns, waterfalls, and dense vegetation.

Native Americans inhabited this canyon for nearly 10,000 years, leaving artifacts and evidence of their presence in Temple Cave and other shelters.

Local church congregations traditionally performed baptisms in the canyon waters, establishing a connection between nature and religious practices.

The entrance fee costs 12 dollars for adults, with additional charges for night tours to observe the bioluminescent organisms.

The canyon contains the largest population of dismalites in North America, rare bioluminescent creatures that emit blue-green light at night.
