Treasure Beach, Beach coves in Saint Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica.
Treasure Beach comprises four distinct coves—Billy's Bay, Frenchman's Bay, Calabash Bay, and Great Bay—stretched along the coast of Saint Elizabeth Parish. Each cove has its own character, with sheltered waters and sandy shores that draw both locals and travelers.
The Taíno people settled this coastline over 1000 years ago, creating communities and trade networks before European colonization transformed the region. Their presence shaped the area's foundation and connection to the sea.
Fishing remains the heartbeat of daily life here, with locals selling their catches directly to the beachside establishments that line the shore.
You reach the coves by following minor roads from Black River or Santa Cruz that connect to the main highway and lead toward the shore. Basic supplies and drinking water are available at small shops scattered throughout the settlement.
About 600 meters from shore stands Floyd's Pelican Bar, a wooden structure on stilts that sits directly in the Caribbean, accessible only by boat. This floating establishment has become known through film and travel writing for its remote and unconventional setting.
