Leonel Viera Bridge, Concrete bridge between Punta del Este and La Barra, Uruguay.

The Leonel Viera Bridge is a concrete structure spanning the Maldonado Creek with three sections supported by two piers in the water. It carries Route 10 traffic and measures 10 meters in width for vehicles traveling between the two areas.

The structure was inaugurated in 1965, replacing two earlier bridges that had collapsed due to natural disasters at the same location. This history of rebuilding shows the importance of maintaining the connection between the two areas despite environmental challenges.

Local residents see this bridge as an important part of the coastal landscape, connecting two beach communities. It has become a familiar landmark in the daily lives of people who travel between these areas.

Access is straightforward since the bridge is part of the main traffic route and easy to use when traveling between the two communities. It is worth noting that the area is subject to weather conditions that can vary by season.

A second parallel bridge was built 20 meters upstream in 1998 to handle increased traffic in the region. This double structure is clearly visible from a distance and shapes the appearance of the coastline.
