Normanby Hotel, Heritage hotel at Red Hill, Brisbane, Australia
The Normanby Hotel occupies a corner location at Musgrave Road and Kelvin Grove Road, featuring a two-story brick structure with decorative balconies and verandahs.
Built in 1890 by Thomas Game following designs from architect John B Nicholson, the hotel replaced an earlier establishment that operated on the site since 1872.
The establishment became a gathering place for Brisbane's alternative music scene during the 1990s, hosting numerous nightclubs and bands in its downstairs bar.
The Normanby Hotel maintains its original function as a hospitality venue while preserving architectural elements such as leadlight windows and ornamental ceilings from the 1890s.
The property features a Queen Anne architectural style with a substantial brick construction and elaborate gabled roof, standing prominently on the northern ridge above Petrie Terrace.
