Spring Hill Baths, Heritage swimming pool in Spring Hill, Brisbane, Australia.
Spring Hill Baths is a two-story brick building in Brisbane housing a 23.5 meter indoor swimming pool. The structure contains approximately 57 original changing rooms from the Victorian era, arranged around the pool area.
This facility opened in 1886 as Brisbane's first in-ground public swimming pool. It replaced earlier floating baths that had previously served swimmers in the Brisbane River.
The pool marked social progress in 1927 by becoming one of the first swimming facilities in Australia to allow mixed-gender bathing sessions.
The facility offers swimming lessons and aqua aerobics classes for different experience levels. Different pricing options are available for adults, children, and families to suit various visitor needs.
The building originally used a water system that pumped water from Petrie Bight through the site. Gravity flow allowed natural water circulation before modern filtration technology became standard.
