St Pauls Presbyterian Church, Spring Hill, Presbyterian church in Spring Hill, Australia
St Pauls Presbyterian Church is a religious building in Spring Hill completed in 1889 with a cruciform floor plan. The walls are made of local Brisbane tuff stone, the window frames use Helidon sandstone, and the interior features stone pillars, gothic arches, and a red cedar ceiling.
Construction started in 1887 using stones salvaged from an earlier building on Creek Street and was completed in 1889. The project followed the designs of Francis Drummond Greville Stanley and was finished under Thomas Rees's direction.
The design shows how Presbyterians created spaces for their worship, with a strong focus on the interior arrangement reflecting their beliefs. The craftsmanship and decoration reveal what mattered to the community when it was built.
The building sits on St Pauls Terrace and is easy to reach with clear markings and walkable access. Visitors should come during regular services to fully experience the interior and see the place being used as intended.
The church holds stained glass windows designed by William Bustard in 1923 depicting Apostle Nathanael. A notable feature is the working church bell from 1888, a rare example of early bell craftsmanship still used in Brisbane today.
