Eumundi School of Arts, Historic building in Eumundi, Australia
The Eumundi School of Arts is a single-story timber building with a gabled corrugated iron roof, elevated on concrete stumps along Memorial Drive. The main hall features ash flooring, two raked timber ceilings, and contains storage rooms, a kitchen, and a projection room.
The second hall was completed in 1912 by builder W Bytheway from Gympie for 1000 pounds, replacing the original 1908 structure that had become inadequate for community needs. This building became a central gathering place for local events and meetings.
The building holds a memorial listing 87 local men who served in World War I, serving as a meaningful gathering place for the community to remember those who fought. Visitors can see the names displayed as a quiet tribute to the town's contribution during that period.
The building is easily accessible along Memorial Drive with open exterior areas that reveal its structure and design. Visitors should explore during daylight hours to fully appreciate the timber construction and interior details.
The building retains original viewing slots that ticket collectors once used during events to monitor admissions. The asymmetrical veranda at the front entrance is a distinctive design feature that marks this 1912 construction.
