Compass Point Studios, Recording studio in Nassau, Bahamas.

Compass Point Studios is a recording facility sitting on the beach in Nassau with multiple recording rooms equipped with both vintage and modern gear. The compound includes accommodation so musicians can stay for extended recording sessions without leaving the property.

Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records, established this studio in 1977 as a creative hub for international musicians and producers. It quickly became a major recording destination that drew artists from around the world.

The house band that worked here, the Compass Point All Stars, created a distinctive approach by mixing Caribbean rhythms with contemporary styles. This sound became something visiting musicians could learn from and build upon.

Since this is an active recording facility, contacting ahead is advisable if you want to visit or see the space. The beachside location makes it easy to take a break between sessions or explore the surroundings.

AC/DC recorded their album 'Back in Black' here in 1980, which became one of the highest-selling records of all time. This session demonstrates how world-class artists chose this location to create enduring classics.
