Neal Preserve, Nature reserve in Manatee County, United States.
Neal Preserve is a nature reserve spanning about 120 acres near Anna Maria Island. It features shell-surfaced paths and wooden boardwalks that lead through mangrove forests and elevated oak woodlands.
The site was acquired by Manatee County in 2005 to preserve it as a nature reserve. This was part of an effort to protect important coastal habitats in the region.
The site contains reconstructed burial mounds that show how people lived and settled here over a long period. You can see these remains today and understand how the area was used in the past.
Access is controlled, and pets and bicycles are not allowed to protect sensitive habitats and bird nesting sites. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and stay on marked trails.
A 20-foot observation tower offers views across the island and surrounding coastal landscape. From this vantage point you can see across the water and mangrove areas.
