Kenwood Historic District
Kenwood Historic District, Historic residential district in St. Petersburg, Florida, US.
Kenwood Historic District is a residential neighborhood in St. Petersburg containing more than 2,000 historic buildings that reflect Mediterranean Revival, Craftsman Bungalow, and Tudor Revival architectural styles. The structures are spread across approximately 375 acres, representing diverse building traditions from different periods.
The neighborhood grew rapidly during the Florida Land Boom of the 1920s, becoming one of the first suburban developments beyond downtown St. Petersburg. This period of expansion established the district's residential character and attracted many new residents.
An Artist Enclave within the district shapes its creative identity through regular exhibitions and community events that draw residents and visitors.
The area is easily walkable, with homes and streets designed to be explored at a leisurely pace while observing the varied architecture. Visitors can stroll through neighborhoods to study different house facades and appreciate the building styles throughout the district.
More than half of the residential buildings are bungalows, giving the neighborhood a unified architectural presence. This concentration of bungalow-style homes creates a distinctive visual character throughout the district.
