Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement

The Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement is an art museum in downtown St. Petersburg spread across five stories with galleries, a library, and a theater. The building displays furniture, pottery, metalwork, textiles, and architectural elements created by American craftspeople during the early 1900s.

The museum opened in 2021 after a collector began acquiring Arts and Crafts pieces during the 1990s and established a foundation to support the project. This foundation made it possible to create a dedicated space for sharing this important artistic movement with the public.

The museum displays works by craftspeople who rejected industrial mass production in favor of handmade quality and individual artistry. Visitors see how this movement shaped American life through handcrafted furniture, pottery, and metalwork made by individual makers.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Sundays from noon to 4 PM at its downtown location. It sits in the city center making it convenient to visit while exploring the area on foot.

The museum holds works by Frank Lloyd Wright, one of the most influential American architects and designers of that era. His pieces show how this craft-focused approach extended to large-scale design and architecture, not just small objects.
