The Museum of Fine Arts spans 33,000 square feet and exhibits artifacts and artworks from different continents covering 5,000 years of civilization.
Founded by Margaret Acheson Stuart, the museum opened in 1965 in a building designed by John Volk & Associates on a four-acre waterfront site.
The museum collection includes works by Monet alongside significant artistic pieces from Asia, Africa, and the Americas representing diverse global traditions.
The facility offers educational programs, exhibitions, and Art After Dark events on select Thursday evenings for enhanced art appreciation experiences.
The 2008 Hazel Hough wing expansion doubled the museum size, adding new gallery spaces for rotating exhibitions and special collections.
