Venetian Waterway Park, Linear hiking trail in Venice, Florida, US
The Venetian Waterway Park is a hiking trail with pathways on both sides of the Intracoastal Waterway, running from Caspersen Beach to Shamrock Park. The route features multiple access points and sections that guide walkers past mangroves, waterfront views, and open spaces along the waterway corridor.
The trail was created through partnership between Venice Area Beautification Inc, city government, and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation to expand public outdoor access. The project grew from local efforts to improve recreational spaces along the waterway.
Interpretive signs along the route explain what visitors see: nesting birds, mangrove forests, and how the waterway supports local wildlife. Walkers learn about the natural rhythms that shape this part of Florida's coast.
The park has seven parking areas and multiple entry points scattered along the route for flexible access. Most sections are flat and easy to walk, making it suitable for casual strolls without much physical demand.
The trail connects directly to the Legacy Trail at the Historic Venice Train Depot, creating a seamless longer route without breaking the path. This link allows walkers to extend their journey significantly into Sarasota County through a continuous network.
