Dauer Hall

Dauer Hall is a three-and-a-half-story L-shaped building constructed with brick and featuring double-hung windows with copper downspouts. It contains classrooms, research areas, and faculty offices serving multiple departments across liberal arts and sciences.

The building was constructed in 1936 as the Florida Union during the Great Depression. It received its current name in 1975 to honor Manning J. Dauer.

The name honors a longtime scholar who shaped the university's academic culture. Today it functions as a gathering place where faculty from different departments interact and share ideas.

The building is easily accessible and located in the heart of the university campus. Visitors can explore the interior and observe the various academic spaces and departments housed within it.

During World War II, the building's banquet hall served as a mess hall for Army officer trainees stationed at the university. This brief military chapter reveals how the campus transformed during wartime.
