The Glenn Curtiss Mansion is a roughly V-shaped, two-story house of hollow clay tile with a rough textured stucco exterior. Its flat roof is edged by irregular parapet walls with projecting waterspouts and irregular openings. The main entrance sits in a deeply recessed T-shaped opening under a flat-roofed porte cochere, and a central patio faces the golf course.
The residence was designed and built in 1925 by architect Martin L. Hampton for aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss. Curtiss lived there until his death in 1930, connecting the property to early American aviation history.
Lena Curtiss called the house Dar-Err-Aha, "House of Happiness." On January 9, 1969, the estate hosted the Miami Touchdown Club dinner where Joe Namath guaranteed a Jets win over the Colts in Super Bowl III. Since 2012 it has been open for community and private events.
The City of Miami Springs manages this registered property and visits can be arranged with advance notice. The grounds are most accessible during daylight hours and the outdoor areas are easy to explore.
The original estate included a small lake where the owner introduced and raised different water bird species. This collection of waterfowl was an unusual feature of the private property.
