Coral Gables Congregational Church

The Coral Gables Congregational Church stands at 3010 DeSoto Boulevard, featuring architectural elements characteristic of Spanish Colonial Revival design from the 1920s.

George E. Merrick, the developer of Coral Gables, donated the land for the church construction in 1923 and dedicated it to his father, a Congregational minister.

The church established the Coral Gables Congregational Church Composition Prize, which recognized Australian composer Gordon Hamilton in 2006 for musical excellence.

Students from the University of Miami School of Architecture created detailed documentation of the building, including measured drawings and historical reports for preservation planning.

The church documentation project received the 2023 Charles E. Peterson Prize and will be stored in the Historic American Buildings Survey archive at the Library of Congress.
