Viera, Master-planned community in Brevard County, Florida.
Viera is a master-planned community in Brevard County on Florida's Space Coast with over 350 businesses and modern residential neighborhoods organized in distinct sections. The development spans East, West, and South areas containing green spaces, four elementary schools, multiple parks, and The Avenue shopping center with more than 100 retail stores.
The Viera Company, a subsidiary of A. Duda and Sons, began developing this planned community in 1989 in Brevard County. The project emerged from the founding family's vision to create a modern residential area with organized infrastructure and comprehensive services.
The name Viera comes from Slovak and means faith, chosen to honor Andrew Duda, the patriarch of the founding family behind this development.
The area is well-organized with clear pathways through different neighborhoods and multiple entry points for easy navigation. Visitors should plan ample time for exploration since the development is quite spread out and a car may be needed to comfortably visit all sections.
The area was specifically designed to support a car-centered lifestyle, with wide streets and generous parking throughout. This makes it an example of 1990s American planning practices that prioritized automobile dependency.
