Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts

The Maxwell C. King Center spans 126,000 square feet and contains a main theater with 2,016 seats and a smaller Studio Theatre accommodating 250 people.

The Florida Legislature approved design funds in 1983 and allocated 12.3 million dollars for construction between 1985 and 1986, leading to the 1988 opening.

The center presents more than 115 annual performances, ranging from orchestral concerts and theatrical productions to contemporary music shows and dance performances.

Ten full-time employees, 57 part-time workers, and 400 volunteers manage operations, ticket sales, and audience services at the North Wickham Road location.

The facility maintains a 3.5 million dollar endowment while providing a performance venue for both established touring artists and local cultural organizations.
