Nannie Lee House, Queen Anne style residence in Melbourne, Florida.
The Nannie Lee House is a two-story residence displaying Queen Anne style features including asymmetrical facades, overhanging eaves, and prominent front-facing gables. The structure retains these characteristic architectural elements while accommodating modern improvements through decades of careful renovation.
The house was built in 1905 by John B. Lee and Nannie McBride Lee as their family residence. In 1929, ownership transferred to their adopted granddaughter Lily Tidwell.
The house operated as The Strawberry Mansion restaurant from 1981 until 2007, becoming a gathering place for the community. During those decades, the restaurant helped shape the local dining culture of Melbourne.
The building is easily viewable from the street and clearly displays its historic architectural style despite interior modifications. Visitors should note that this is a private residence and can only be viewed from the exterior.
The house served as a restaurant for 26 years before returning to residential use, marking a distinctive chapter in its timeline. This transition from family home to dining destination and back shaped how locals remember the building.
