Turtle Talk with Crush, Interactive theater show at EPCOT, Walt Disney World Resort, United States.
Turtle Talk with Crush is an interactive theater show in a climate-controlled auditorium where guests speak with an animated sea turtle displayed on a large screen. The performance combines film, animation and real-time dialogue as the audience sits on benches and asks questions to the swimming character.
This attraction opened in November 2004 at The Living Seas pavilion in EPCOT and used a then-new technology for animated real-time conversation. By 2009 the concept had been adopted and adapted across several Disney parks worldwide.
This entertainment experience incorporates marine education by teaching children about sea life through direct interactions with the character Crush.
The show lasts around 15 minutes and runs every 20 minutes throughout the day, with room for up to 40 people per session. Children are invited to stand and move closer to the screen when selected by the host or the character.
A hidden performer controls both the animation and the voice of the turtle simultaneously, responding spontaneously to audience comments and questions. Every show therefore unfolds differently depending on what questions are asked and how guests participate.
