Journey into Imagination with Figment

Journey into Imagination with Figment is a dark ride at EPCOT, Florida, where guests travel through several rooms representing different senses. Each scene shows the purple dragon jumping between smell, sound, touch, and other areas while the vehicles rotate and occasionally pause.

The first version opened in March 1983 as part of the Imagination pavilion with a different character as the main figure. A complete redesign in 1999 reduced the dragon's role, but public reaction led to the current version in June 2002 that brought him back to the center.

The purple dragon is one of the few characters in American theme parks to appear continuously in the same attraction for more than four decades. The song accompanies visitors through every room and returns repeatedly to its central line.

The ride lasts about five minutes and moves slowly through lit rooms suitable for most age groups. Afterward, visitors can explore an adjacent interactive area that offers several hands-on experiments.

The vehicles move in clusters of three and pause in certain rooms instead of moving continuously like many similar attractions. These pauses allow each vehicle to rotate fully to offer a better view of the scenes.
