Frozen Ever After, Dark boat ride in Norway Pavilion at Epcot, US.
Frozen Ever After is a boat ride through the kingdom of Arendelle in the Norway Pavilion, using Viking-style wooden boats that carry visitors past moving and speaking characters from the film. The boats climb up a waterfall and glide through several scenes featuring Elsa, Anna, Olaf and other characters before passing through an ice cavern.
The ride opened in June 2016 and replaced the former Maelstrom attraction in the Norway Pavilion, keeping the original track and boat system. Disney expanded the queue and added new rooms but kept the same building outline.
The queue winds through rooms decorated with traditional Norwegian wood carvings and rosemaling patterns found in real Scandinavian buildings. As you walk through Arendelle's hall, you see replicas of stave church details and colorful wall paintings that reference Nordic folklore.
The ride lasts about five minutes and welcomes visitors of any age and height, with no minimum height requirement. Those who want to avoid long waits can use the Lightning Lane service through Genie+ or arrive early in the morning.
The characters use a new technology for facial animations in which every movement of lips, eyebrows and cheeks is driven entirely by electric systems rather than hydraulics. This makes expressions finer and more natural than older systems, especially when the characters sing.
