The American Adventure, Theme park attraction in the United States
The American Adventure is a Colonial-style building in Epcot's World Showcase, set between the Italy and Japan pavilions. Its red brick facade has 110,000 hand-molded bricks made with Georgia clay and aged, a white portico with six columns, and a clock tower. Inside, a ramp leads to the 1,024-seat Liberty Theater for the animatronic show.
The attraction opened in 1982 as part of the original Epcot Center's opening. It was designed as one of the park's larger productions to showcase American history from colonial times onward.
The show features figures like Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain discussing key moments in American history. Visitors can see which people and events Americans themselves view as central to their national story.
The show runs continuously throughout park hours and provides indoor seating for guests. The theater offers multiple rows with good viewing angles, making it easy to find a comfortable spot at any time.
The stage measures 130 by 50 feet, and its main lift, 65 by 35 feet, raises 175 tons of scenery and 35 Audio-Animatronics figures from below. The 155-by-28-foot rear-projection screen sits behind the performers. Benjamin Franklin's figure was the first Audio-Animatronic able to climb a flight of stairs and cross the stage to Thomas Jefferson at his desk.
