Test Track, High-speed slot car thrill ride in Epcot, Florida.
Test Track is a ride in Epcot that recreates a series of automotive tests while reaching a speed of 65 miles per hour (104 kilometers per hour) on an outdoor circuit. The experience guides guests through several testing stations where different vehicle characteristics are evaluated.
The installation opened on March 17, 1999, on the site of World of Motion after a construction phase marked by technical difficulties. General Motors was the original partner before Chevrolet took over the collaboration.
The ride presents vehicle development principles in an environment that recreates testing laboratories where visitors can experience concepts for future automobiles. The design area allows guests to create their own models before heading out on the track.
Visitors must be at least 40 inches (102 centimeters) tall to join this ride, which lasts about five minutes. Each vehicle holds six people throughout the entire course.
Guests design their own vehicle in the Chevrolet Design Studio and then test its performance during the ride. The results are compared with those of other visitors at the end.
