North Peninsula State Park, State park in Volusia County, United States
North Peninsula State Park is a coastal preserve in Volusia County situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. The property features walking trails through different natural habitats and provides access to fishing and gathering activities at Smith Creek Landing.
The park was established in 1984 to preserve the region's natural coastal environments. This designation represented an important step in protecting these valuable seaside lands.
Three different species of sea turtles select the park's protected beaches as nesting grounds during their annual reproductive cycle from May through October.
Visitors find best access through marked entrances and should bring sturdy shoes for the walking trails. The paths can become slippery when wet, so checking weather conditions before arriving is wise.
Along the Ormond Scenic Loop, there is a bicycle repair station equipped with specialized tools for long rides. This facility makes the area particularly appealing for cyclists exploring the coastal route.
