Congaree Golf Club, Private golf club in Gillisonville, United States.
Congaree Golf Club is a private course designed by Tom Fazio spread across about 2,000 acres in South Carolina. The 7,300-yard layout winds through lakes and longleaf pine forests.
The property began as a land grant to John Hobard in 1770 and later operated as a quail hunting preserve through 1991. It was subsequently developed into a contemporary golf course.
The Congaree Foundation identifies and supports high school students showing golf talent through education, mentoring, and equipment assistance. The organization focuses on developing young athletes while teaching them practical life skills beyond the sport.
This is a private club with restricted access and not open to the general public. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable playing conditions and are generally the best times to visit.
The club maintains only two official members, its two founders, making it one of the most exclusive golf facilities in the country. Despite this tiny membership, the facility focuses heavily on philanthropy and youth development.
