William Barnwell House, Historic residence in Beaufort, United States

The William Barnwell House features a three-story white clapboard design with a two-story veranda facing south toward the river and classical columns.

Built in 1816 by Gibbes Brothers as a wedding gift for Sarah Reeves Gibbes, the house represents early 19th-century residential architecture in South Carolina.

The house carries the name of William Wigg Barnwell, a local farmer and plantation owner who married Sarah Reeves Gibbes, great-granddaughter of Tuscarora Jack.

Located at 501 King Street in Beaufort, South Carolina, this privately owned National Register of Historic Places property requires respect for owner privacy.

The property originally stood at 800 Prince Street before relocating to its current address, demonstrating changes in local property arrangements over time.
