Tree Hill Nature Center, Environmental education center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Tree Hill Nature Center is an environmental education facility spanning 50 acres with southern mixed hardwood forests, wetlands, freshwater streams, and native plant collections. The grounds include nature trails, a learning laboratory, wildflower gardens, and parking areas.
Land acquisition began in 1971 as the start of a conservation effort. Later purchases expanded the property over time.
The center connects visitors with local ecosystems through guided tours, workshops, and interactive exhibits about Florida's native plants and animals. People can experience and understand how these habitats work and why they matter to the region.
The center sits on Lone Star Road in Jacksonville and is easily accessible by car with ample parking. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear for the trails and bring water and sun protection, especially during warm months.
Each spring the center hosts a Butterfly Festival where hundreds of butterflies of various native species can be observed in action. This event draws thousands of visitors annually who come to witness this natural spectacle.
